ANAS Institute of Oil and Gas held a scientific session on the 70th anniversary of ANAS Vice-President, Director of this Institute, Academician Ibrahim Guliyev on May 22.

Opening the event, Academician I.Guliyev said that, the scientific session is devoted to the presentation of monographs "The search for hydrocarbon deposits in the Arctic and the World Ocean and the state, prospects and problems of their development" and "Geology, prospecting and exploration of hydrocarbon deposits in the waters of the World Ocean".

Further, Deputy Director for Research of the Institute of Oil and Gas Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the presented report V. Bogoyavlenski based on analysis of a large volume of modern and retrospective data on the geology and oil and gas content of various regions of the World Ocean, Normative and other materials, as well as the author's corresponding experience, informed about the main spectra of issues related to the search and exploration of offshore hydrocarbon deposits.

Further, the presentation of the monograph "Geology, prospecting and exploration of hydrocarbon deposits in the water area of the World Ocean" was held.

Speakers in connection with the new edition noted that the book describes the main elements of the geological and geomorphological structure of the bottom of the World Ocean and its shelf zones, the main features of the structure, the formation and evolution of oil and gas bearing sedimentary basins of the water areas, associated hydrocarbon systems and oil and gas accumulation zones.

The questions of the history of the development of the offshore oil and gas industry are touched upon, modern methods, technologies and technical means of offshore oil and gas exploration are considered.

The monograph is intended for specialists in the field of offshore oil and gas geology, prospecting, exploration and development of offshore fields, as well as for undergraduate and postgraduate students specializing in this field of activity.

The monograph was prepared by the financial support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia. The authors of the book are active member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, head of the Department of Theoretical Foundations of Exploration and Exploration of Neti and Gas of the Russian State University of Oil and Gas I.Gubkin, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Professor Vagif Kerimov, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Boris Senin, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Deputy Director for Research of the Institute of Oil and Gas Problems, Doctor of Technical Sciences V. Bogoyavlenski, a leading researcher at the Department of Theoretical Foundations of Exploration and Exploration of Neti and Gas of the Voronezh State University of Oil and Gas I.M .Gubkin, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Gennadiy Shilov.
