“Germans in history of Azerbaijan” photo-exhbition opened at the National Museum of Azerbaijan History dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the establishment of German settlements in the South Caucasus region.

The photo exhibition was organized in accordance with the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, "On the 200th anniversary of the establishment of German settlements in the South Caucasus region" and the corresponding decision of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.

The exhibition shows materials reflecting German travelers who visited Azerbaijan in the middle Ages, the migration of Germans to Azerbaijan in the XIX century, the life of the German colonies in Azerbaijan in the XIX - early XX centuries. Photographic materials are enriched with relevant scientific information. At the exhibition space is reserved for about 140 photographs and gifts presented by German organizations to the museum in different years.

At the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition, the vice-president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbeyli, the director of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, academician Naila Velikhanly and the head of the Department of the organization of scientific expositions and exhibitions, the doctor of philosophy on history Sabuhi Ahmadov told about the significance of Azerbaijani- German relations and expressed their opinion about the photo exhibition.

The exhibition will last until June 22, 2017.
