By organization of Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, ANAS Presidium hosted the presentation of “Sumgait 1988: Crime and Punishment” book.

Event with joint organization of Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Ministry of Foreign Affairs was opened by ANAS president acad. Akif Alizadehand he stated the significance to reveal and deliver the real truths about Sumgayit events to the world community. These events that occurred 26 years ago lead to false land claims by Armenian nationalists. In order to implement this intention, Armenians who were willing to recognize Azerbaijan people like the brutal, bloodthirsty, intolerant to the world community did not hesitate to sacrifice even their fellows, noted the academician.

Academic emphasized that delivery of the true face of the Sumgayit events puts a great responsibility not only before law enforcement officials, but also international community, scientists, historians, and the lawyers: “In this regard, “Sumgait 1988: crime and punishment” book in three languages by investigative journalist –scientists Eyruz Mammadov and Ramazan Mammadov is of special importance.

Reporting in the event, vice-president of ANAS acad. Isa Habibbayli corresponding member of ANAS Rafael Huseynov, prof. Govhar Bakhshaliyeva, co-authors of the book Ramazan and Eyruz Mammadov, chief of press service of MFA Elman Abdullayev, chief department of MFA Hikmet Hajiyev, chair of ANAS Young Scientists and Specialists Council Famin Salmanov and others stated that the book is a logical result of intense activity.
