Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

Central Scientific Library by the support of the Embassy of Colombia to Azerbaijan held the event dedicated to the creativity of the famous Colombian writer, Nobel Prize winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez "One hundred years of solitude".

The event was attended by representatives of diplomatic missions in Azerbaijan, government officials, the private sector and the media.

Opening the event, Deputy Director for Research of ANAS Institute of Literature after Nizami Ganjavi, Doctor of Philology sciences Mammad Aliyev said that, literature is a noble bridge that embodies love, unity, patriotism and brotherhood of peoples. It was noted that, such events play an important role in bringing the literary environment of our countries closer together and carrying out literary exchange.

The scientist said that, the work "One Hundred Years of Solitude" by one of the most influential representatives of Spanish literature, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, is considered a masterpiece of mystical realism, and noted that this work played a big role in awarding the Nobel Prize to the writer.

Then, Ambassador of Colombia in Azerbaijan, Martha Ines Galindo Pena spoke about the significance of the conference and the value of literature for humanity.
