ANAS main building presented 2nd volume of "History of Azerbaijani Music" book by a prominent art historian, founder of musical source study, head of Department of the Institute of Architecture and Art, Academician Zemfira Safarova on October 3.

The book, which is the joint work of a group of employees of the Institute of Architecture and Art, was published on the basis of the project and under the scientific editorship of Academician Z. Safarova.

Within the framework was also organized the exhibition of a number of books by the scientist.

Opening the event, Director of the Institute, corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Ertegin Salamzadeh, said that the new edition is a multi-year collective research that will be presented to readers in Azerbaijani and Russian languages. It was noted that, the book in chronological order reflected the portraits and study of the creativity of composers, who began to work since the beginning of the XX century. He brought to the attention that this period of the history of music is associated with the names of the brilliant composers Uzeyir Hajibeyov, Muslim Magomayev, Zulfugar Hajibeyov, Niyazi, Asaf Zeynalli, Afrasiyab Badalbeyli, Seid Rustamov and the first female composer of Azerbaijan Agabadi Rzayeva.

A.Salamzade added that, the new book included information about Bulbul, Rashid Beybutov, G. Sarabsky, G.Almaszadeh, Sh.Mammadova and others, and also rare photos and musical samples for the first time.

Then, Vice-President of ANAS, Director of the Institute of Literature, Academician Isa Habibbayli stressed that, Z. Safarova for many years studied the history of Azerbaijani music, her problems, her books were published in Russia and Turkey, she is famous outside of our country as a prominent researcher. Noting that the new book is a great contribution to the musical culture of Azerbaijan, Academician I.Habibbayli stressed that the composer's creativity of the beginning of the 20th century forms the basis of today's development of the history of Azerbaijani music.

Stressing that, Uzeyir Hajibeyov laid the foundation of Azerbaijani musicology, the academician noted that the book contains special chapters of the operas "Leili and Mejnun", "Koroglu", the operetta "Arshin mal alan", the romances "Sensys" and "Sevgili janan".

The Chairman of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, Hijran Huseynova, noted in her speech that today in independent Azerbaijan women has freedom of speech, as evidenced by the new edition. Stressing that, Z.Safarov - the author of more than 30 books and about 200 articles, H.Huseynova estimated the publication as an important work for the history and culture of Azerbaijan.

At the presentation, the chairman of the Union of Composers, corresponding member of ANAS Firangiz Alizadeh said in her speech that, today a lot of new musicologists are being brought up under the direction of Z. Safarova. The scientist highly appreciated the placement in the book of information about women composers of Azerbaijan Agabaji Rzayeva, Shafiga Akhundova and also on the attitude of Uz. Hajibeyli to them.

Speaking at the event, the reviewer of the book Tariel Mammadov, member of the creative team Shahla Huseynova and others told about the creation of research work and the importance of placing its electronic version in the Internet space.

In conclusion, Z. Safarova in her speech spoke about the preparation of Volume III of the publication and expressed gratitude to the organizers and participants of the event.
