Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On October 13, the next meeting of the Department of Social Sciences (DSS) was held at the Presidium of ANAS.

Academician-secretary of the department, Academician Nargiz Akhundova highlighted the issues on the agenda.

Then head of the Institute of History named after A.A.Bakikhanov of ANAS, PhD in history Ilgar Niftaliyev delivered a report on "The history of the ancient land of Azerbaijan - Zangazur's deportation to Western Armenia". In his speech, the scientist talked about the history of Zangezur and historical facts and documents of the Azerbaijani population of the region. 96 years ago, the majority of the district's 6742 square verst area against the will of our people was forcibly dismantled and united to Armenia. It was reported that the tragedy of Zangezur began with the deployment of Iranian Armenians on these lands after the end of the XVIII - beginning of the XIX century, after signing of Gulustan in 1813 and Turkmenchay treaties in 1828. Together with Zangezur, Iravan, Goycha, Vedibasar and other historical places are also alienated with the insidious Armenian trick.

Academician Govhar Bakhshaliyeva, correspondent member of ANAS Musa Gasimli and others spoke about the genuine essence of the genocides committed by Armenians in different regions over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The meeting was also discussed 90th anniversary of academician Jamil Guliyev, correspondent member of ANAS Arif Abbasov’s 80th, Doctor of History Ali Rajabli's 90th, new composition of DSS Department, approval of new Scientific Council of Caucasian Studies Institute and other issues.

At the end a number of cadre problems issued.
