On November 8, the "Round table" on the subject "State Symbols in the History of Azerbaijan" was held at the Institute of Science History of ANAS.

The event, dedicated to the Day of the State Flag, began with the national anthem.

Director of the Institute, Doctor of History Maryam Seyidbeyli congratulated the staff on the remarkable day and spoke about the history of our tricolor flag. The scientist said that the flag of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR) was adopted at the ADR government meeting on November 9, 1918.

M.Seyidbeyli noted that for the first time on the sidelines of national leader Heydar Aliyev our tricolor flag was brought to the meeting hall of the Nakhchivan Supreme Soviet on November 19, 1990 and presented as a state flag.

According to the order of President Ilham Aliyev, November 9 is celebrated as the Day of the National Flag of Azerbaijan.Celebrating the Day of the State Flag in Azerbaijan will serve to further consolidate and strengthen our independence. The Day of State Flag is a day of honor for every Azerbaijani, said the director of the institute.

Then the scientific secretary of the Institute, PhD on Political Sciences Zaur Aliyev spoke about the symbolic meaning of the national flag, its place in our national and spiritual values, the flags of state and khanates existing in ancient times in Azerbaijan.

Then, the leading scientific worker of the institute, PhD in history Agil Ahmadov presented the report "Azerbaijan’s flag: history and modernity". Reporting on the political aspects of the establishment of the historic day, the speaker said that the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan was adopted by nation-wide voting in 1995. Our constitution protects the sovereignty, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Azerbaijani state with the provision of a legal, secular state that guarantees the supremacy of laws, as well as the expression of the will of the people.

At the end of his speech A.Ahmadov sang the poem of the People's poet Bakhtiyar Vahabzade "Flag".
