ANAS main building by support of the Institute of History after A.A.Bakikhanov and the Division of Social Sciences of this structure held scientific conference on "In the light of the Presidential Order: Azerbaijan Democratic Republic - 100" on December 19.
Opening the event, ANAS Vice-President, Academician Isa Habibbeyli brought to the attention that, the conference was organized in accordance with the Order of President Ilham Aliyev "On the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic" dated May 16, 2017. He noted that, the 100th anniversary of the 1st parliamentary republic in the East - the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in our country will be celebrated at the state level.
He stressed that, the achievements of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev are invaluable in establishing, developing and recognizing on the international arena of our statehood, the political course of which President Ilham Aliyev is persistently implementing today.
Talking about the works carried out at ANAS Institute of History towards the study of the state independence of our republic, Academician I.Habibbeyli said that, the institute has written scientific works on the history of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, defended the thesis and issued a two-volume "Encyclopedia of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic".
Then, director of the Institute of History, Academician Yagub Mahmudov in his speech spoke about the role and significance of the first democratic republic in the East - the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in the history of the modern independent Azerbaijan state. Noting that, the basis of the new philosophy of statehood is the ability to make independent decisions, Y.Mahmudov brought to the attention that our country conducts an independent policy in the region.
Academician stressed that, the Azerbaijani people created the most democratic republic of the world, the East and the entire Turkic world. We have become an example for the whole East. He reminded that, in Turkey the republic was created five years after Azerbaijan, that is, in 1923.
The rest of the speakers dwelled in detail on some aspects of the ADR's activities during the two-year existence.
