ANAS Institute of Linguistics after Nasimi held a commemoration event on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the January 20 tragedy on January 17.

Fist, by a minute of silence was honored the memory of the victims of the tragedy.

Director of the Institute of Linguistics, Academician Mohsun Nagisoylu stressed that, January 20 tragedy engraved forever to our history as a heroic page. It was noted that, the tragic events of January 20 have a special significance in the restoration of our national statehood.

Noting that, thanks to the efforts of the national leader Heydar Aliyev in 1994, the events of January 20 were given a political assessment, the scientist stressed that the great leader took a number of important measures aimed at perpetuating the memory of the victims during the tragedy.

Other speakers at the event told about the causes and consequences of the January 20 tragedy, stressed that the bloody events of this day will never be forgotten.
