Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

A new issue of the Spanish-language journal İRS-Herencia was published. Journal prepared by the joint efforts of the İRS editorial board and the Department of Azerbaijan Studies, which operates at the Institute of International Relations of the National University of La Plata, Argentina.

The new issue published an article "Azerbaijan's assistance to refugee children from Spain during the Civil War in 1936-1939 as a unique model of tolerance, humanism and multiculturalism" by Head of the Center for Acquisition and Systematization of Scientific Heritage of Azerbaijan of ANAS Presidium Administration, Doctor of Historical Sciences Z.A.Hajiyeva.

The article describes the unique historical documents and cinema-photographic materials dating back to the 20th century. It is noted that the historical fact, captured in the newsreel of the early 40s of the 20th century, indicates the arrival of refugee children from Spain in Azerbaijan. In the difficult years of World War II, the hospitable land of Azerbaijan provided shelter to children from Spain.

The article reports that, in difficult war years, Azerbaijan has managed to adequately provide not only political support, but also easy to save the civilian population of Spain was in a deep political crisis, as a result of the civil war in 1936-1939 years. This unique historical fact is a confirmation of the tolerance, humanism and multiculturalism of the Azerbaijani people.

It should be noted that, the magazine "IRS-Herencia" pursues the goal of propaganda of realities, culture and arts, ancient and rich history of Azerbaijan in Hispanic countries of the world.
