ANAS Institute of Economy, Central Scientific Library and the State Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for prisoners of war, hostages and missing persons held an event "Khojaly genocide is a crime against humanity" dedicated to the 26th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.
In advance, victims of tragedy were remembered for a minute of silence.
Opening the event, scientific secretary of the Institute of Economy, Doctor of Philosophy, Associate Professor Rasmiya Abdullaeva spoke about the brutality and atrocities of insidious Armenians who, on the night of 25-26 February 1992, committed a monstrous crime in Khojaly with the help of the 366th motorized rifle regiment of the former Soviet army. As a result of the introduction of artillery and heavy military equipment, 613 people were killed with special cruelty in the city of Khojaly, 8 families were destroyed.
R.Abdullayeva brought to attention that, on March 1, 1994, the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev signed a special Decree in connection with the Khojaly tragedy, and the decision of the Milli Majlis on February 26 was declared "Khojaly genocide and national mourning day".
Director of the Institute of Economy, Doctor of Economy, Professor Nazim Imanov expressed his confidence in the soon release of the lands occupied by Armenians.
Further, were delivered reports by head of the department of the Institute of Economy Tanriverdi Pasha on "Khojaly genocide is the greatest tragedy of our people in the 20th century and the exposure of superpowers supporting Armenian separatism", head of the Department public relations of the Central Scientific Library Mubariz Geyushlu on "Khojaly tragedy in local and world media" and others.
Reports spoke about the work done to bring the truth about the Khojaly genocide to the world community, as well as giving a legal assessment of genocide in the international arena.
It should be noted that, within the framework of the event was organized an exhibition prepared by the State Commission.
