Scientific conference dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the first Honored Art Worker of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, an eminent artist of Nakhchivan Division of ANAS Shamil Gaziyev has been held. 

The event was organized jointly by Nakhchivan State University, Nakhchivan Teachers' Institute and Union of Artists of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Chairman of the department, academician Ismayil Hajiyev noted that on February 1, 2018, the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Vasif Talibov, signed a decree on “About the 110th anniversary of outstanding artist Shamil Gaziyev”. He gave detailed information on the life and activity of the patriot painter. She noted that outstanding artist Shamil Gaziyev was the organizer and director of the Painting School, which was opened for the first time in Nakhchivan. Moved to Baku in 1948, he worked as an artist in the "Azerbaijan Youth" newspaper until the end of his life.

Later, Rahman Mammadov, head of the Department for Humanitarian Policy and Public Organizations of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, said that the artist, who has devoted his 50 years of his life to fine arts and theatrical area, is the author of "Khirmanda", "Qalaychilar", "Refugees", "Old Nakhchivan" and etc.

Ramiz Mammadov noted that under the patronage and care of Mr. Vasif Talibov, Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the album-catalog, which included 56 works of artist in various genres in 2010, publishing of scientific conference, exhibition of his works, carrying out research on the artist's creativity, conducting master classes on the works created on the theme of Nakhchivan are important for studying the heritage of Shamil Gaziyev.

Director of the Department of Manuscripts of the Division Farman Khalilov made a report on "Life and creativity of outstanding artist Shamil Gaziyev", chairman of the Union of Artists of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Ulviya Hamzayeva on "State care for Shamil Gaziyev's creativity"and etc.

At the end, Natella Gaziyeva, the daughter of prominent artist, thanked the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly Vasif Talibova and participants of the event.
