Lankaran Regional Scientific Center (LRSC), ANAS Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry held a scientific and practical seminar on "Progressive technologies for growing tea and citrus fruits".

The event was held in accordance with the Order of AR President Ilham Aliyev "On approval of the State Program on the development of tea growing in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2018-2027", signed on February 12 this year.

Speaking at the seminar, director of the LRSC, Professor Farman Guliyev spoke about the creation of tea and citrus plantations, and the provision of proper agro technical care during sowing and cultivation. He noted that the adoption of the State Programs for the development of tea growing and citrus fruits will strengthen the country's agrarian potential by developing these areas, influencing domestic demand and reducing dependence on imports and improving the living conditions of the population.

F.Guliyev noted that, the adoption of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On tea", which defines the legal basis for the organization of tea growing, regulation of tea production and quality assurance of tea products, has created favorable conditions for the development of tea growing in the country.

Director of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry, corresponding member of ANAS, Alovsat Guliyev, head of the Agriculture Department of Lerik, Mahmud Zahidov, Deputy Director for Research of the LRSC, PhD in History Mais Jafarov, member of the Department of Tea and Subtropical Plants, PhD in Chemistry Isa Huseynov, senior researcher at the Department of Archeology Samir Kerimov and farmers expressed their proposals on the topic.
