At the Institute of Geography of ANAS an event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the prominent scientist in the field of soil science, candidate of agricultural sciences Sayyaf Khalilov was held.

Director of the Institute of Geography, academician Ramiz Mammadov spoke about the rich scientific activity of the scientist. He noted that S. Khalilov's scientific achievements, maps compiled by him for certain regions of Azerbaijan, played an important role in the protection and use of lands in the republic. The scientist studied genetic changes occurring in the soil as a result of climate change and the activity of anthropogenic factors.

Then, head of the Land Resources Department of Azerbaijan Institute, Ph.D. in Agricultural Sciences Ismail Guliyev delivered a report on the S.Khalilov’s life and work of. He noted that the scientific research work of the scientist is devoted to morphogenetic degradation of soils, interaction between plants and soil, and anthropogenic impact assessment. He is the author of more than 60 scientific articles and two monographs in this field.

Hafiz Yagubov, Tahira Salmanova, Vilayat Hasanov, Doctor of Geographical Sciences Renabeyim Gashgay and others spoke about the great contributions of the prominent scientist Sayyaf Khalilov to the Azerbaijani science at the event of the PhD in agricultural sciences.

In conclusion, daughter of the scientist Khatira Khalilova expressed her gratitude to the organizers and participants of the event for the attention and respect shown to the memory of her father.
