Nakhchivan Division of ANAS hosted a conference devoted to the 100th anniversary of ADR

Scientific conference on "Nakhchivan during Azerbaijan Democratic Republic: Protection of Historical and Territorial Integrity" was held in Nakhchivan Division of ANAS.

The conference was held in accordance with the "Action Plan for the Holding of the 100th Anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic" approved by the decree of the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov dated January 25, 2018.

The event was opened by the chairman of the department, academician Ismayil Hajiyev and talked about the role and place of the ADR in the history of our statehood. He said that during the ADR period of twenty-four months the Azerbaijani language was declared a state language, the National Army was established and students were sent to study in foreign universities.

Later, Rahman Mammadov, head of the Department for Humanitarian Policy and Public Organizations of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, recalled President Ilham Aliyev's Declaration on the Year of the People's Republic of Azerbaijan in 2018 and the Declaration on the 100th Anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.  

Fakhraddin Safarli, Director of the Institute of History, Ethnography and Archeology of ANAS made a report on “Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and Nakhchivan” , correspondent member of ANAS Veli Bakhshaliyev on"The activity of the Nakhchivan Muslim National Committee during the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic", PhD in history, docent Emin Shikhaliyev on "Geopolitical rivalries in the Caucasus during the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan and its impact on Nakhchivan".
