ANAS Nakhchivan Division held the presentation of the 1st volume of "Ampelography of Azerbaijan" book.

Opening the event, chairman of the Division, academician Ismail Hajiyev spoke about the scientific significance of the publication for people engaged in viticulture. Authors of the book are Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, associate professor Varis Guliev, Doctor of Technical Sciences, associate professor Tariel Panahov, corresponding member of ANAS Magsud Gurbanov and Ph.D in Agrarian Sciences - Vugar Salimov, Mirza Musayev, Husein Idrisov and Jabbar Najafov.

It was noted that, the book is the 1st fundamental work devoted to the development and expansion of viniculture in Azerbaijan on a scientific basis, increasing its economic efficiency and ampelographic research of the gene pool of grapes.

Then, was listened the report by head of the Laboratory of Cereals, Legumes and Technical plants of the Institute of Bioresources, Ph.D in Agricultural Sciences, associate professor Parviz Fatullayev on "Valuable labor on viticulture in Azerbaijan". The reporter noted that, in accordance with the "State Program for the Development of Viticulture in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2012-2020" approved by the Order of President Ilham Aliyev dated December 15, 2011 and the "State Program for the Development of Viticulture in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2018-2025" approved by the Order of President Ilham Aliyev dated May 3, 2018, the country is carrying out extensive organizational work.

It was noted that, the development of proposals for the conservation and research of the gene pool of grapes, the enrichment of the variety composition of economically more efficient table and technical varieties, the assessment of the biological and economic characteristics of the species to be used, as well as the introduction of new varieties, growing at different times, with high profitability, more resistant to frost, diseases and parasites, is among the most pressing problems.

The scientist brought to attention that, in the new edition in Azerbaijan, Russian and English languages a complete ampelographical description and photos of 16 gruel and 70 aboriginal table varieties are presented.

Then, director of the Institute of Bioresources, academician Tariel Talibov, corresponding member of ANAS Aliadin Abbasov, head of the Laboratory of Soil protection of the Institute of Bioresources, Ph.D in Agricultural Sciences, associate professor Sahib Hajiyev, General Director of the Scientific-Production Association "Araz" after Academician Hasan Aliyev, Ph.D. agrarian sciences Bahruz Bayramov, head of the department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Askar Gasanov and others told about the relevance of the new edition.

In conclusion, one of the authors of the publication, Varis Guliyev, expressed gratitude to the organizers and participants of the event.
