Institute of Linguistics after Nasimi ANAS held the event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the resercher of the Department of Modern Azerbaijani language, Ph.D. in Philology, assistant professor Gudrat Jafarov.

Opening the event, director of the institute, academician Naghisoylu Mohsun told about the life and work of the scientist, his contribution to the science of linguistics. He reported that, G.Jafarov, while still a student, translated the Russian “Epic on Igor's regiment” into Azerbaijani, and this work was published in 1964 under the editorship of Academician Mammad Arif Dadashzadeh.

Informed about the multifaceted activity of the scientist, M.Nagysoylu brought to the attention that he received his education in graduate school in Moscow, in 1971 he defended his thesis on "Terms of kinship in the Azerbaijani language."

Then, Deputy Director of the Institute for Scientific Work, Ph.D. in Philology, Associate Professor Baba Maharramli and Professors - Ismail Kazimov, Sayali Sadigova, Ismail Mammadli and others spoke about the work of a prominent scientist.
