ANAS Institute of Manuscripts held ceremony of awarding the medal "Mahmud Gashgari-1000" of the International Fund after Mahmud Gashgari.
Academician-secretary of ANAS Division of Humanitarian Sciences, director of the institute, academician Teymur Kerimli noted that, this fund was named after the famous Turkic philologist, the founder of Turkology, the author of the book "Divanü lügətit-Turk" Mahmud Gashgari.
He brought to the attention that, the fund annually traditionally awards individuals conducting important research in the field of Turkic studies.
Further, general-secretary of the International Foundation after A.Sh.Mahmud Gashgari Elkhan Zal spoke about the organization he directed. He noted that, the foundation was founded in 2006 by the People's Writer Anar, the late literary critic Arif Amrahoglu. He said that, this foundation is a bridge between the Turkic peoples, and its main goal is to contribute to the development of common Turkic thinking and culture in Turkey.
E.Zal noted that, among the laureates of the fund's award also are named the 9th President of Turkey Suleiman Demirel, Kazakh writers Olzhas Suleymanov, Sabit Dosanov, Kyrgyz poet Omar Sultanov, from Azerbaijan - Abel Maharramov, doctor of philology Ramiz Asker, People's poet Sabir Rustamkhanly, People's Writer Chingiz Abdullayev, Professor Ilham Rahimov and Honored Journalist Hikmet Babaoglu.
At the event, director of the Institute of Folklore, academician Mukhtar Imanov noted that, the International Fund after Mahmud Gashgari has important merits in protecting the rights of minorities of the Turkic people, development, propaganda and bringing their culture to future generations.
Member of the Award Committee, writer Elchin Huseynbeyli said that, director of the Institute of Manuscripts, academician Teymur Kerimli and director of the Institute of Folklore, academician Mukhtar Imanov were awarded the "Mahmud Gashgari-1000" medal for his merits in development of general Türkic thinking and culture.
Further T.Kerimli and M.Imanov were awarded the medals.
