Boulevard Hotel held a conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR).

Opening the conference, the Attorney General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Zakir Garalov, informed about the historical significance of the 1st democratic, parliamentary republic - Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, established in the Muslim East on May 28, 1918 and played an invaluable role in the history of our statehood. Zakir Garalov stressed that, ADR created a reliable basis for the future independence of Azerbaijan.

Then, director of ANAS Institute of History, academician Yagub Mahmudov delivered a paper on "The modern Azerbaijan Republic - the inheritor of the Democratic Republic". The scientist brought to attention the Order of President Ilham Aliyev "On the Announcement of 2018 as the Year of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic" and "On Holding the 100th Anniversary of the Republic at a High Level". Speaking about the history of ADR and its significant achievements, Y.Mahmudov said that, 1918-1920 are one of the brightest pages of the history of our people.

Stressing that, the national leader Heydar Aliyev constantly kept in focus the deep study of the period of the Republic, Y.Makhmudov brought to the attention that today scientific research in this direction continues, primary sources and archival documents are delivered to our country, scientific works are being prepared and translated into different languages. Academician noted that, according to the will of the great leader, the "Encyclopedia of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic" was prepared, which is the 1st fundamental scientific work covering all aspects of the history of the Republic. He stressed that, the constant attention of President Ilham Aliyev to the study of the period of the Republic allowed to conduct more extensive work in this direction.

Then, to the participants of the conference donated the Encyclopedia of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic to the Prosecutor General.

At the conference were listened papers by director of the Institute of Caucasus Studies, corresponding member of ANAS Musa Gasimli on "The 1st Democratic Republic of the Muslim East", Deputy Prosecutor General Namik Askarov on "The exceptional role of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic in the history of our statehood".

In conclusion, was demonstrated the documentary "Eternal Trip", prepared by the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Baku Media Center.
