ANAS Institute of Bioresources of the Nakhchivan Division held a scientific conference devoted to the International Day of Biodiversity.

The event was held by organizational support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and Faculty of Natural Sciences and Agriculture of Nakhchivan State University.

At the conference, director of the Institute of Bioresources, academician Tariel Talibov spoke on current state of biodiversity, laws and regulations adopted in the country, as well as the studies conducted in his institution in the field of biodiversity conservation.

Further, were delivered papers by the leading scientist of the Department of Zoological Research of the Institute, Ph.D. in Biology, associate professor Arzu Mammadov on " Biodiversity of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and ways to save", head of the Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Shovgi Aliyev on "Biodiversity of Specially Protected Natural Territories of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic" and the deputy dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Agriculture of Nakhchivan State University, PhD in Biology, associate professor Hilal Gasymov on "New taxa in biodiversity of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic".

Speakers talked about the rich vegetation, wildlife and natural resources of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. It was noted that, as a result of the measures taken to preserve and restore the rich biodiversity of this region, a favorable ecological environment has been created in the region today.
