Winners of the contest of poetry reading dedicated to 100th anniversary of ADR announced

Central Scientific Library of the ANAS, Ataturk Center in Azerbaijan, public associations "Contemporary Development" and "Youth Contribution" held the final stage of the poetry reading contest "My Motherland, Azerbaijan".

The competition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic was held under the slogan "We are all mortal except you!". In the final of the contest, which took place on the basis of 252 applications from 100 schools in Baku, 16 students attended in the first and second stages.

At the beginning of the event, National Anthem was performed and then a minute of silence was honored by the memory of the founders of the ADR and martyrs, who gave their lives for the freedom and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

The head of the International Relations and Public Relations Department of the Central Scientific Library of ANAS Mubariz Geyushlyu noted that the competition was organized within the framework of the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Conducting the 100th Anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic".

Then, the chairman of the jury, head of Ataturk Center in Azerbaijan, academician Nizami Jafarov told about the importance of the poetry reading competition. He said that, the competition is of great importance in terms of educating the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism, the correct perception of the history of our independence.

Further the finalists performed poems, prepared on the theme "My Motherland, Azerbaijan" and were evaluated by the jury members.

Student of the secondary school #42 of Nasimi district Rauf Aliyev was awarded the 1st and the student of the Secondary School #254 of the Khatai district Aish Aliyev - the 2nd and the student of the Atatürk Turkic Dunyasi school of Baku Oguzdan Panahli - the 3rd place. The winners were awarded with diplomas, laptops, tablets, cameras and valuable books from the CSL Exchange Fund.

At the end of the event, the jury members - People's Artist Nuraddin Mehdikhanli, employee of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Zohra Askerov, head of the Philological Department Chair of the Baku State University Said Abbasov, editor-in-chief of the Birlik magazine Ilgar Ilkin and Garabagh Gazi Anar Mamedov congratulated participants on the occasion of the 100th anniversary ADR and shared their views on the competition.
