By organizational support of ANAS Lankaran Regional Scientific Center, Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry, Executive Power of the Masalli District and District Agricultural Department held the scientific and practical seminar on "Technology for the progressive cultivation of tea and citrus fruits".
The event, held in the Masalli district administration of agriculture was organized on the basis of the decree "On approval of the State Program for the Development of Tea Industry in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2018-2027", signed by AR President Ilham Aliyev.
At the seminar deputy of the Masalli regional department of agriculture Nasir Mukhtarli delivered the report on "Forecasting in the development of agriculture", director of the Lankaran regional scientific center, professor Farman Guliyev - "Ways of restoration of fertility in old and weak tea plantations" and the director of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of ANAS, correspondent member Alovsat Guliyev - "The role of science in the development of agriculture in Azerbaijan". It was noted that, the adoption of the State Program in connection with the development of tea growing and citrus studies will strengthen the country's agricultural potential through the development of these areas, meet domestic demand and reduce dependence on imports, improving the living conditions of the population.
It was noted that, the tea plant in our country was 1st planted in the late XIX century, the cultivation of tea on a scientific basis started in 1929, and since 1932 - the establishment of industrial plantations. In addition, it was noted that, the development of subtropical plants in Azerbaijan, including the tea growing on an industrial scale began in the 70-80s of the last century thanks to the care and efforts of the national leader Heydar Aliyev.
At the event, Eldeniz Musali, deputy head of the Masalli regional department of agriculture, deputy director for scientific affairs of the Lankaran regional scientific center, doctor of history Mais Jafarov, employee of the Department of tea and subtropical plants, Ph.D. in chemistry, assistant professor Isa Huseynov, foreman-tea-maker Mirgasim Bagirov and other speakers shared their views on the topic.
