Department of Earth Sciences held next meeting

ANAS Institute of Geology and Geophysics  held next meeting of the Division of Earth Sciences (DES) on June 1.

President of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh, vice-president of the academy, academician Ibrahim Guliev, academician-secretary ANAS, academician Fakhraddin Gadirov, members of the department, heads and employees of scientific institutions attended at the event.

First, academician-secretary of the department, academician Fakhraddin Gadirov spoke about the issues on the agenda.

At the event, head of the Caspian Sea Monitoring Department of ANAS Geography Institute after academician H.Aliyev, corresponding member of ANAS Rauf Gardashev delivered report on "Mathematical modeling of cars on solar energy during the way: simulation and visualization".

R.Gardashev noted that, the transition to the use of electric cars, powered by batteries, begins. The scientist said that, the next stage will be connected with the transition to hybrid batteries and cars that work thanks to solar energy.

The speaker stressed that the most important difference between the solar cars is the source of their energy is outside the car and control over its quantity is impossible. Energy amount of falls on the panel of a solar car, depending on the geographical point and the surrounding terrain, the time of year and the transparency of the atmosphere, is variable. Therefore, it is necessary to calculate the potential of solar energy along the chosen path for organizing the optimal motion of the solar car and, accordingly, simulate the movement of the car.

Scientist has brought to the attention that, he is preparing a mathematical model for simulating and visualizing the motion of vehicles working on the basis of solar energy throughout the journey. He added that this is a combination of the two models: "The first is the" Solar Radiation Model", which calculates the amount of solar energy that falls on the car's panel at an arbitrary point of the road and at any time. The second is "The mathematical model of the motion of a solar car", modeled taking into account all the factors affecting the movement of the car. The solar car "SunRiser" movement is simulated and visualized on the monitor during selected roads: "Baku-Shamakha" Zagatala-Tbilisi and Hamburg-Berlin".

R.Gardashev noted that, this model will become the basis of the navigation systems of solar cars, which will be widely used in the future. According to the correspondent member of ANAS, this model will help to resolve issues related to choosing the initial time of movement, the optimal speed that must be maintained throughout the journey, the time of reaching the mountain passes, the use of the battery and the timing of its filling.

After listening the report, wide discussions took place. Academicians Akif Alizadeh, Ibrahim Guliev, Hatam Guliev and Ramiz Mammadov shared their opinions and recommendations with their opinions and recommendations.

At the event, the issue of making partial changes to the composition of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics was also considered, under the decision of the branch, a petition was raised to the Presidium.

Within the framework of the meeting the scientific tasks set in the decision of the Presidium of ANAS concerning the report of the Department of Earth Sciences for 2017 were discussed, and appropriate decisions were made.

In conclusion, were considered a number of current issues.
