Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

On April 30, 2014 in the main building of ANAS by the organization of Institute of Geography held IX congress of Geographical Society of Azerbaijan. The Congress was opened by director of the institute, corresponding member of ANAS and doctor of technical sciences Ramiz Mamedov.

Economy development, considering rational use of natural resources, demography and national features is a main objective of society. R. Mamedov also noted that for the reporting period Geographical society of Azerbaijan organized 8 scientific conferences. The conference “Assessment and Rational Use of Potential of Natural Resources of Geosystems in the conditions of Global Changes” devoted to 90-year anniversary of H.Aliyev is one of the major actions organized by Geographical society for the last 30 years. Then were heard reports of Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Professor Neron Babakhanova, Dean of the Faculty of Geography of BSU, Professor Ferdi Imanov, head of the department of geographical ecology, Professor Shovgi Goychayli, dean of the Faculty of Geography and prewar preparation of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Ph.D. in Agricultural Sciences, Docent Matanat Asgarova and etc.

Within action were discussed such questions as the establishment of the journal “Proceedings of the Geographical Society,” presentation of the electronic site of the Geographical Society, the selection and approval of the Company's logo, organization of the next conference, etc.
