Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

An international scientific conference on "Chingiz Aytmatov: phenomenon connecting humanity and nationality" dedicated to the 90th anniversary of world-famous writer Chingiz Aitmatov was held at the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi on July 13.

First, the participants of the event got acquainted with the exhibition of books and photos of Chingiz Aitmatov organized by the National Library of Azerbaijan named after Mirza Fatali Akhundzadeh.

Vice-President of ANAS, director of the Institute of Literature, academician Isa Habibbeyli spoke about the rich creative activity of the Kyrgyz writer.

Prominent writer of the Turkic world Chingiz Aytmatov is a world-wide person and writer created the most beautiful examples of literary literature both in Kyrgyz and Russian. Since 1952 Chingiz Aitmatov has published his first works in these languages, but his signature has been recognized among readers after he studied at the Moscow Higher Literature Institute. Chingiz Aitmatov, who was awarded the highest honorary titles and awards of the state, became the favorite writer of all the peoples of the USSR. His works have been read with love and affection throughout the world from the 60s of the last century to the end of his life. Though his writer thinks of human problems, the images he creates have been the bearer of historical memory, vice-president underlined.

Later, Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), Dusen Kaseinov, said that the great Turkic writer Chingiz Aitmatov is a friend of Azerbaijan. D.Kaseyenov reminded that the writer has repeatedly visited Azerbaijan and noted that the year 2018 was proclaimed "Chingiz Aitmatov" in Kyrgyzstan and accordingly, series of events are organized.

General Secretary of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries (TurkPA) Altınbek Mamayusupov, MP, writer Huseynbala Miralamov, editor-in-chief of "Literature" newspaper Azer Turan, Director of Baku Yunus Emre Institute Jihan Ozdemir, director of the Center for Culture and Education of Egypt Ahmed Sami Elaydi, Director of the National Library of Azerbaijan named after M.F.Akhundzade Kerim Tahirov and others spoke about the valuable contribution of Chingiz Aitmatov to world literature, meeting of the famous writer with President Ilham Aliyev and awarding "Friendship" order.

The event was followed by lectures on "Universal Problems in Chingiz Aytmatov's Creativity", "The World's Renewal of prose with Chingiz Aitmatov", "Dialogue of Man and Nature in Chingiz Aitmatov's Creativity", "The Day of the Age".

At the end, the special edition dedicated to the Chingiz Aitmatov, the journal of the “Comparative Literature” journal of the Institute of Literature, was presented to the public.
