Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

Taking place against the background of the second half of the XIX century, the social and political changes of events in the cultural life of Azerbaijan prepared the way for the transformation of traditional folk theater in a professional secular theater. Since its establishment, it is the first temple professional theater Islamic East, permanently averted in his rich repertoire of works by a wide berth with high ideological and profound social content. Now in our country there is a new type of theater, is fully based on a system of national values, and acting school, characterized scenic culture. Invaluable contribution of the theater is the formation of new generations of patriotic high spirituality.

In this regard, the President of the Azerbaijan Republic signed order on March 1, 2013 “On the 140th anniversary of the establishment of Azerbaijan professional national theater."

In fulfillment of the issues arising from this Order , pursuant to the Decree of the Presidium of ANAS on April 11, 2013 Action Plan has been prepared taking into account the proposals of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan , the Union of theatrical figures of Azerbaijan.

According to the Action plan, the scientific -practical conference “Azerbaijan Theater – 140” will be held November 27, 2013 by involving the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Union of theatrical figures of Azerbaijan and the State Theater Museum.
