Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

The XXIV World Philosophy Congress (WFC) was held in Beijing, China, on August 13-20, 2018.

At the event, which was attended by about ten thousand scientists from more than 100 countries, the head of the department of Islamic philosophy of the Philosophy Institute of Azerbaijan, corresponding member of ANAS Konul Bunyadzade, the head of the department of the Aesthetics of this enterprise, the doctor of philosophical sciences Adil Asadov and head of department of Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, doctor of philosophy, professor Tahira Allahyarova.

The official opening ceremony of the Congress was held in the Parliament of the People's Republic of China - the Grand National Assembly.

The main motto of the event, "Learning Humanity", was the analysis of the human factor in solving the problems facing humanity. The congress continued in 92 scientific sessions, roundtables and master class discussions, where multilateral issues were discussed. Azerbaijani scholars made speeches at the plenary sessions of the congress on "Music Philosophy", "Interfaith Dialogue", "Islamic Philosophy", "Philosophy of Politics", "Globalization and Conflict of Interests". At the session on "Ethnic conflicts and globalization in the modern world" the participants were informed about the aggressive war against the Azerbaijani people and the Khojaly genocide.

Correspondent member of ANAS Konul Bunyadzade delivered a lecture on "Mugam as the manifestation of cognitive process" and "On the newest Islamic philosophy" and Adil Asadov delivered a report on "Ontological basis of aesthetics: beauty as an expressionist of the realized essence".

One of the important events organized within the framework of the WFC was an exhibition of philosophical books and magazines published all over the world. For the first time in this exhibition, Azerbaijan has demonstrated "Metaphysics" philosophy and interdisciplinary journal.

In addition, Azerbaijani scientists have acted as speakers in the Institute of Philosophy at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, where they have exchanged views on "Globalization and national thinking" at the round table at Beijing University.

The Congress was summoned with calls for the scientific community to be more responsive and active in the contemporary world.

Azerbaijani scientists voiced their proposals to hold one of the next meetings in our country with the chairman of the Congress, the President of the International Federation of Philosophy Societies Dermot Moran and the chairmen of the Organizing Committee of the China - Hao Ping and Lin Jianhua.
