The exposition of the Demirchi Archeology Museum, built by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Shamakhi and organized by the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, will be enriched with new archeological materials.
According to Akif Guliyev, the head of the Numismatics and Epigraphy Department of the Institute, the head of the Shamakhi-Aghsu archaeological expedition, PhD in history, the museum was built in accordance with modern world standards.
The first archaeological museum in Azerbaijan includes archeological foundations, cameras and special rooms intended for restoration work.
The museum consists of two exposition halls. In the first hall, the exposition of the stone and cube graves of the ancient and medieval period, discovered during the research of Shamakhi-Aghsu archaeological expedition in the Demirchi necropolis in 2016-2018, are exhibited. In the second hall, material and cultural examples from the ancient times to the end of the Middle Ages discovered in Shamakhi and surrounding areas are presented.
It should be noted that the opening of the museum took place on August 26, 2018.
