Jubilee Session

The jubilee session of the International Association of Academies of Sciences dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the creation of the Belarus National Academy of Sciences and the 25th anniversary of the International Association of Academies of Sciences of the Commonwealth countries was held in Minsk.

A delegation of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, headed by Academician Akif Alizadeh, also took part in the session. The vice-president of the academy, academician Ibrahim Guliyev, director of the Republican Center of the seismological service, the corresponding member of ANAS Gurban Yesirmishli, the managing director of the presidium of ANAS, the doctor of political science Fatali Abdullayev, the director of the Park of high technologies, the doctor of philosophy in economics Nazim Shukurov.

At the opening ceremony of the session, a congratulatory letter from the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko was read and a short film was shown, reflecting the 25-year activity of the International Association.

Opening the meeting, head of the International Association, academician Vladimir Gusakov informed the participants about the history of the association's creation and activities and presented the new site to the participants. "I consider that we have to meet, realize more often joint projects for development of economy of the CIS countries and also on the most current problems, such as ecology, environmental management, climate, food and economic security, development of the electric transport, power, materials science", - Vladimir Gusakov has emphasized.

The head of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, academician Akif Alizadeh read the text of the congratulatory letter of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and delivered a paper on the priority scientific directions of the structure he headed, on the reforms being conducted at the academy. Academician noted that, Academy, having entered a new stage of development, covers a wide range of searches in priority areas of science, builds business relations with influential scientific centers of the world. He said: "Azerbaijani scientists, lead important scientific projects in the CIS countries, Europe and the world, the works of our scientists are published in world journals with a high impact factor. Then the ceremony of awarding took place. Academicians Akif Alizadeh and Ibrahim Guliyev, who were awarded with commemorative medals in connection with the 90th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

Note that, the Jubilee session was held on the platform of the International Congress on the Intellectualization of Economics. In the scientific and organizational events of the Congress, about 500 representatives of research organizations, institutions of higher education, government bodies and business circles of various countries participated. The program of the event included five international scientific conferences: "Interacademic interaction and current challenges of modern times", "System of science-technology-innovations": methodology, experience, prospects","Belarus' economic development strategy: challenges, implementation tools and prospects " "Belarusian science in conditions of modernization" and XVII International Scientific and Technical Conference "Development of Informatization of the State System of Scientific and Technical Information". Heads of academies of sciences of the CIS countries and other states, famous scientists took part in the session. The session discussed and adopted documents aimed at improving the activities of the association, bringing together the positions of academies of sciences, implementing joint projects. As a result of the event, a resolution was adopted.

The International Association of Academies of Sciences was officially established on September 23, 1993 in Kiev. Since 2017 the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has become the basic academy of sciences in the organizational and methodological support of the IAAS, and the chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, academician Vladimir Gusakov was elected the head of the association. The supreme governing body of the International Association of Academies of Sciences is the IAAS Council. For today, the association includes 13 full-fledged and 6 associate members. The MAAN has 17 scientific councils.
