Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

On May 15, 2014 at ANAS Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics there began the international conference “Actual Problems of Mathematics and Mechanics” devoted to the 55th anniversary of creation of scientific institution. The event was attended by prominent figures of science and culture, visitors from foreign countries, members of the Institute.

First, in the foyer of the Institute organized an exhibition of books published by scientists of the institute. The anniversary event was opened by the vice -president of ANAS , Academician-secretary of Department of Physical, Mathematical and Engineering Sciences, Academician Akif Hajiyev, who spoke about the contribution of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of ANAS in Azerbaijan science and on the occasion of this momentous event congratulated the staff of the Institute , and wished them further success .Then the Director of scientific institution, Professor Misir Mardanov noted that action is organized with support of the Ministry of Communications and High Tech of AR. It was noted that the purpose of the activities of the scientific institution is to support the development of mathematics and mechanics in the country: “The Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics was established in 1959 by decision of the Council of Ministers of the Azerbaijan USS from April 27 and Presidium Azerbaijan the Soviet Socialist Republic from May 6 on the basis of Institute of physics and mathematics of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences. Since the establishment of the institute functioned 6 departments: Functional Analysis, Theory of functions, differential equations, integral equations, approximate analysis, theory of elasticity and 2 laboratories: Dynamic strength Computing Center. “M. Mardanov noted that for the 55 period of activity the 93 monographs and more than 10 000 articles of staff of institute were published. M. Mardanov also told about success achieved in the direction of expansion of the international cooperation. Conference continued the work in plenary sessions.
