Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

A great poem "Khosrov and Shirin" by the famous Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi has been published. The book was recommended for printing in accordance with a special project of ANAS.

The head of the project is the President of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh. Editor of the book, which can be seen as an important step in informing the people of the heritage of Nizami is Vice-President of ANAS academician Habibbayli Isa.

Illustrations to the story by the honored artist Fahraddin Ali allow the reader to plunge into the atmosphere of events unfolded in the work and closer to get acquainted with this historical period.

Academician-Secretary of the Division of Humanitarian Sciences of ANAS, academician Teymur Karimli wrote "Foreword" to the book, which speaks about the place of the poem "Khosrov and Shirin" in the world literature. Emphasizing the need to look at Nizami's creativity from a new perspective, the scientist pays special attention to the beyti and parts that, demonstrate Turkism. He stressed that, literary criticism based on Soviet ideology distorted the content and essence of Nizami's works for many years and touched upon the issues of correcting these mistakes in the current period.
