Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities held a seminar on “Earthquake Seismology and Geodynamics”. The event was held in the framework of an intent agreement between ANAS and Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities on October 22-23, 2018.

The goal of the seminar was to familiarize with priority research in seismology and geodynamics in both countries, identifying prospects for cooperation.

Our country was represented by Academician-Secretary of the Division of Earth Sciences, academician Kadirov Fakhraddin, General Director of the Republican Seismic Survey Center, corresponding member of ANAS Yetirmishli Gurban, Director of the Department of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Doctor of Earth Sciences Babayev Gulam and leading researcher of the Institute, PhD in Earth Sciences Safarov Rafig.

At the opening ceremony, President of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, Professor Nili Cohen and Academician Kadirov Fakhraddin spoke about the importance of the seminar as a platform for specialists and scientists in the field of geodynamics and seismology.

Further, the seminar continued its work in 4 sections under the chairmanship of the Vice-President of the Academy, Professor Zvi Ben Avraham and Academician F. Kadirov. Corresponding member of ANAS Yetirmishli Gurban informed the participants about the “seismic network of Azerbaijan and the work done”.
