Nakhchivan Division held the event dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the famous ethnographer-scientist, correspondent member of ANAS Gadir Gadirzadeh.

Initially, the participants visited the tomb of the scientist and laid a wreath at the monument.

The conference started with the memory of Gadir Gadirzadeh with a minute of silence.

Speaking at the event, Division chairman, academician Ismail Hajiyev told about the scientific and educational activities of the scientist. He noted that, the scientific activities of the scientist consisted of family and domestic problems of ethnic history, ethnic and cultural relations, ethno-demographic processes, the system of beliefs, the study ethnogenetic ties between the Turkic peoples.

The scientist was a member of the Presidium of the Nakhchivan Division and the Dissertation Council, as well as the Scientific Council of the Institute of History, Ethnography and Archeology.

In 2009, according to the Order of the AR President for the achievements in the field of science, corresponding member of ANAS Gadir Gadirzadeh was awarded the medal "Tereggi". The scientist created more than 400 scientific works, including 22 books, about 100 popular science articles and spoke at international congresses, conferences held in different cities of the world.

Then, Director of the Institute of History, Ethnography and Archeology, corresponding member of ANAS Fakhraddin Safarli delivered a report on “The life and scientific activity of corresponding member of ANAS Gadir Gadirzadeh”.

Corresponding members of ANAS - Abbasov Aliaddin, Bakhshaliyev Veli and head of the Department of Ethnography of the Institute of History of Ethnography and Archeology, Ph.D in History, Associate Professor Orujov Asef and head of the Department of Caucasian History, PhD in History Emin Shikhaliyev also spoke at the anniversary event.

In conclusion, family member Igrar Aliyev and Gadir Gadirzadeh’s daughter, PhD in History, Associate Professor Turkan Gadirzadeh expressed gratitude to the organizers and participants of the event.
