Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

An event titled "Our national flag is our national identity!" Dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the state flag of Azerbaijan was held at the National Museum of Azerbaijan History of ANAS.

The event was organized by the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, school-lyceum №62 of Nizami district and Public Union of spiritual education of the new generation of "Petek".

The event, opened by the State Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was attended by Emin Dadashov, Head of the Department of Foreign Relations and Scientific-Mass Affairs of the Museum, who spoke about the high level of attention and respect shown to the official state symbols embodied in the independence of Azerbaijan.

It was noted that our state flag is the symbol of the sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Our flag was adopted at the meeting of the Government of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan on November 9, 1918 and had the state status until April 1920. The flag was approved on November 17, 1990 by the initiative and leadership of the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Heydar Aliyev, as a national flag of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. On February 5, 1991, the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Azerbaijan adopted the Law "On the State Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan" and declared it as the State Flag.

At the end, the representative of the Baku City Education Office Sakina Agalarova and the chairman of the Public Union of the new generation of "Petek" Sevinj Askerova congratulated the participants on the historic day and spoke about the importance of educational activities for the schoolchildren to learn the historical heritage of Azerbaijan.
