On November 13, Central Scientific Library has started an international conference on "Radiation Processes and Their Application", dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the famous scientist, former president of ANAS, academician Mahmud Kerimov.
The event was co-organized by the Presidium of ANAS, Department of Physics, Mathematics and Technical Sciences and Institute of Radiation Problems.
President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, academician Akif Alizadeh spoke at the international conference and spoke about Mahmud Kerimov's significant life, rich scientific creativity. He said that the prominent scientist played an important role in enriching radiation physics and informatics with new knowledge. He noted that the main direction of M.Kerimov's scientific researches was connected with dielectric physics.
Academician A.Alizade noted that great scientist has made a great contribution to the science policy of Azerbaijan during his leadership, and our science has entered a new phase of development. This prominent science organizer has contributed to the rapid integration of Azerbaijani science into world science structures and to a significant expansion of relations in foreign countries.
Speaking about the great scientist Mahmud Kerimov's noble qualities, academician A.Alizadeh said that his spiritual qualities will always be in the hearts of scientists.
Academician Nazim Mammadov, academician secretary of the Department of Physics and Mathematics and Technical Sciences, made a report on the life and scientific activity of academician M.Kerimov.
It was noted that the outstanding scientist's scientific activity included electron paramagnetic resonance, electric field, polymer, photography, radiation processes, oxide compounds in the 90s of the last century. His research has been published in and around the country and has been featured in nearly 200 scientific works. The late scientist has received many patent and copyright certificates for his scientific achievements.
Mahmud Kerimov has been working as an engineer at the Academy of Physics since 1973. From 1974 to 1984, he worked as a laboratory assistant in the radiation research sector and became the director of that sector in 2001. Mahmud Kerimov, who was elected president of ANAS in 2001, worked on this post until his death. Mahmud Kerimov has always been a high-profile citizen of Azerbaijan in terms of social and cultural events in the country.
