Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences held a scientific session devoted to the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic on November 20.

The event, organized by the Division of Humanitarian Sciences was opened by ANAS Vice-President, academician Isa Habibbayli, recalled the order of President Ilham Aliyev “On holding the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic” and announcing 2018 in the country “Year of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic".

Academician said that, after returning to political power in the republic, national leader Heydar Aliyev paid special attention to studying the history of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic. Scientist noted that, the corresponding orders of the head of state Ilham Aliyev who is successfully continuing policy of the Great Leader are the certificate of appreciation given to activity of ADR from the state and set important tasks for scientific community.

Academician Isa Habibbayli also added that, in accordance with the Action Plan related to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of ADR ANAS held numerous events.

The speaker stressed that, the celebration of the 100th anniversary of ADR serves to strengthen and enrich the idea of Azerbaijanism in the country. He noted that, with its rich experience of state-building, the Academy of Sciences, which existed only 23 months, left indelible traces in the history of national statehood, strengthened in the soul of the people feelings of freedom and independence and laid a solid foundation for the future independence of the republic.

Then, Academician-Secretary of the Division of Humanitarian Sciences, academician Teymur Karimli called the Order of President Ilham Aliyev as evidence of a great concern for our history and national and spiritual heritage.

Academician said that, despite its so short existence ADR, which is the 1st parliamentary republic in the Muslim East has taken important steps in many areas, including in the field of culture.

He stressed that, during the period of the ADR were created theaters and libraries, press organs in the native language, special attention was paid to the training of national personnel. The speaker noted that, propaganda of ideas of freedom, independence, democratic values and ideas of Azerbaijanism always occupied a peculiar place in the work of artists.

At the scientific session, employee of ANAS National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature after Nizami Ganjavi, Doctor of Philology Shafag Alibayli delivered a report on “Women Enlightenment of Azerbaijan in ADR period“, fellow of ANAS Institute of Folklore, PhD in Philogy, Associate Professor Agaverdi Khalilov on “The Independence Concept of the ADR“, employee of the Institute of Literature after Nizami Ganjavi, PhD on Philology, Associate Professor Safura Guliyeva on "100 years of our independence in poetry", employee of ANAS Institute of Architecture and Arts, PhD in Architecture, Associate Professor Rahiba Aliyeva on “The liding architect of the ADR - Zivarbay Ahmadbayov”.
