Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

ANAS Institute of Geology and Geophysics held general assembly of ANAS Department of Earth sciences.

Opening the assembly academician-secretary of the department corresponding member of ANAS Fakhraddin Gadirov informed about the issues on the agenda. He wished successes to academy members who will represent the department in elections for corresponding and active membership on June 27.

6 nominators put forward their candidacy for 5 places over active membership and 24 nominators for 8 places over corresponding membership.

Professors proposed for corresponding membership on “Geology” specialty – Elmira Aliyeva, Vagif Gurbanov, Hikmet Mahmudov and Ulvi Mehdiyev, on “Geophysics” specialty – Chingiz Aliyev, Ayvaz Khalafli, Abdulvahab Mukhtarov and Namaz Yusubov, on “Seismology” specialty – Gurban Yetirmishli and Tahir Mammadli informed about their scientific activities.

Noted that, nominators on “Oil and gas deposits”, “Oceanology”, “Geography” and “Tectonics” specialties will be informed about their recent scientific achievements on June 5.
