Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences hosted a conference on "Heydar Aliyev: time, personality and eternity" on December 10.

Opening of the conference, ANAS President, academician Akif Alizadeh  spoke about great leader Heydar Aliyev’s services to the State and peoples. Noting that the late leader highly appreciated the work of scientists and paid great attention to science, he spoke about the merits of the national leader in the development of science.

Then, speaking on the topic on “Heydar Aliyev: time, personality and eternity” Vice-President of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli briefed excursion into the history, told about the activities carried out by the great leader in various periods in the protection of national interests of the state and the development of national identity, strengthening economic power and socio-cultural sphere, etc.

He noted that, the life and activity of this brilliant personality, which played an exceptional role in the history of the Azerbaijani people is a school for every Azerbaijani.

Academician spoke about the ideology of Azerbaijanism, created by the national leader.

Noting that, the prominent statesman Heydar Aliyev was the founder of a great era, I.Habibbayli said that, the national leader had demonstrated a consistent and purposeful policy in this direction and had made significant achievements in the field of social development.

ANAS Vice-President noted that, the development of Azerbaijani science is directly connected with the leadership of national leader Heydar Aliyev in the 70-80s of the 20th century.

Speaking about the 1993-2003 events, which are the 2nd stage of Heydar Aliyev’s power, I.Habibbayli said that, this period was recorded as a period of struggle to preserve the state independence of modern Azerbaijan.

Recalling that, in 2019 will be celebrated 50th anniversary of great leader Heydar Aliyev’s power, I.Habibbayli noted that, ANAS is planned an international conference.

Then, ANAS Director of the Institute of Linguistics after Nasimi, academician Mohsun Naghisoylu delivered a report on “Heydar Aliyev and the Azerbaijani language”. Academician spoke about the role of the great leader in the study of the Azerbaijani language and national spiritual values, conducting research in priority scientific fields and creating authoritative scientific schools.

Noting that one of the main directions of Heydar Aliyev’s national construction policy was science policy, Mohsun Naghisoylu stressed that, despite all the obstacles, even in the most difficult periods of the country's history, far-sighted measures aimed at preserving the Azerbaijani language and improving measures application of language in subsequent years.

In the report on “Heydar Aliyev and the Azerbaijan Science”, head of the laboratory of ANAS Institute of Physics, corresponding member of ANAS Salima Mekhtiyeva said that, during the country's leadership Heydar Aliyev, who called the academy a national treasure of the people, important political development activities were carried out in the country strengthening scientific and technical potential and increasing the authority of scientists in society.

Salima Mekhtiyeva told about meeting of the nationwide leader with the leadership and a group of leading scientists of ANAS in 1993, the policy aimed at expanding the activities of the academy and its attitude to science.

The conference presented slides reflecting the life and work of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev.
