Institute of Oriental Studies celebrates the 60th anniversary

On December 11, a meeting devoted to the 60th anniversary of the Institute of Oriental Studies named after academician Z.M.Bunyadov was held.

The event was attended by prominent statesmen and scientists, representatives of public and international organizations, heads of various state institutions and universities, directors of institutions and organizations.

Participants got acquainted with the exhibition dedicated to the memory of great scientist, pedagogue, professor Aida Imanguliyeva and an exhibition reflecting the scientific achievements of the Institute of Oriental Studies.

President of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh opened the jubilee meeting at the Academy's main building. Institute of Oriental Studies passed about 60 years of glorious path, studied language, history, religion-philosophical heritage of the Eastern countries, culture, socio-social status, and made valuable contributions to Azerbaijani science.

Academician Akif Alizade said that the scientific achievements of the scientists of this institute have always been highly appreciated by the state. Recently, according to the relevant decree of President Ilham Aliyev, a group of employees of the Institute of Oriental Studies were awarded with honorary titles, orders and medals.

The head of ANAS congratulated the staff of the institute on a remarkable day and wished them success in their work.

Today most of the employees of the Institute are direct students and followers of scientific schools created by academicians such as A.Alizade, Z.Bunyadov, H.Arasli, A.Imanquliyeva, R. Aliyev.The Institute of Oriental Studies is the main research center for oriental studies in our country, said Isa Habibbeyli, vice-president of ANAS, academician. He emphasized the importance of this institution for the preparation of highly qualified oriental cadres and the scientific support of the Azerbaijani state in international relations. He noted that the institute makes a significant contribution to the development of international relations on a consistent policy basis.

Academician-Secretary of the Department of Social Sciences of ANAS Nargiz Akhundova said that East-West mutual literary relations and influence in Azerbaijan are systematically researchedat this scientific center. The scientist said that Oriental scholars should re-learn statehood traditions, Turkology, historical heritage, national interests, introduce new methodological concepts and promote multiculturalism and tolerance traditions.

Then, academician Govhar Bakhshaliyeva, director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, made a report on the theme of "60 years of honorable way". The scientist gave detailed information on the history of its establishment, development stages, scientific directions and important results.

It was noted that the scientists of the institute learn how to preserve the fundamental values ​​and progressive aspects of national culture by acquiring western culture in the conditions of independence for our country located in a place where East and West meet. The staff also conducts research on the creativity of Arabic and Persian-speaking Azerbaijani scholars and writers, and works efficiently to investigate Arabic and Persian sources of history, culture, language, and socio-philosophical ideas.

G.Bakhshaliyeva noted that on the eve of the jubilee many staffs of the Institute of Oriental Studies have worked hard and with great enthusiasm and respected national traditions of oriental science.

Other speakers at the event spoke about the multifaceted activities of the Institute of Oriental Studies, their 60-year history and their scientific achievements and congratulated the staff of the institute on the jubilee.
