Lankaran State University held symposium dedicated to Sheikh Zahid Gilani’s 800th anniversary

"Sheikh Zahid Gilani’s 800th anniversary" International Symposium launched on December 13. The event was organized by ANAS Institute of History, Lankaran State University, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency and Necmettin Erbakan University.

First, the event participants commemorated the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and laid flowers at its monument. At the international event Azerbaijan and Turkey’s anthems were performed.

The Acting Rector of Leningrad State University, Professor Natig Ibrahimov graeting the participants and informed about the agenda, goals and objectives of the international symposium. It was noted that, "Sheikh Zahid Gilani’s 800th anniversary" International Symposium will create new works, the creation of conditions for the gathering of scientists for a joint exchange of views and the results of scientific research. Noted that, more than 60 applications from 5 countries of the world were submitted for participation at the forum.

Sheikh Zahid was born in 1215. Sheikh Zahid spent a significant part of his life in Shikhakaran vilage and Sheikh Zahid’s mausoleum by decision of the Cabinet of Ministers is kept as a historical monument.

Professor of Necmettin Erbakan University - Ahmad Tashkin, Professor of Kastamonu University Jovdat Yaguboglu, staff of ANAS Institute of History - Professor Shahin Fazil, Associate Professor Dilavar Azimli told about the life and activity of the great poet and public figure.

Then, symposium continued its work in session.
