Scintist Zemfira Hajiyeva’s article published in the international journal "İRS"

Next issue of the the international Azerbaijani journal "Heritage" ("İRS") was published in Moscow. Issue devoted to the history of Karabakh which is the pearl of Azerbaijan and to the aggressive policy pursued by Armenians.

The scientific article “Armenian Church: State in a State?” by head of the Center for Acquisition and Systematization of Scientific Heritage of Azerbaijan ANAS Presidium, Doctor of History Zemfira Hajiyeva published in this issue.

The article based on many archival documents and sources provides information on the resettlement of Armenians from the territory of Iran and the Ottoman Empire, to the occupied lands of the Russian Empire - the lands of Azerbaijan, as well as the historical role of the Gregorian Church in this activity.

In addition, article highlighted the terrorism and the destructive activities of Armenian extremist groups against the Ottoman Empire, ethnic cleansing carried out by Armenians against Azerbaijanis at the beginning and at the end of the twentieth century. Armenians, which haven’t historical traditions of statehood always lived under the power of other people and the states. In the 60s BC. Armenians were dependent on the Roman Empire. In 387, the region of Armenia was divided between the Roman and Sassanian empires: the western part passed to Rome, and the eastern part to Iran.

The politicized Gregorian church played a special role in falsifying the history of Armenia. The actions against the Safavids were associated with the struggle for the creation of an Armenian state in these territories. The Armenian Gregorian Church played an important role in the socio-political history of the Armenian people, who had long lost their statehood.

Russian Emperor Peter the Great played a special role in the process of phased resettlement of Armenians from neighboring countries to the South Caucasus. The "highest diploma" signed by him dated November 10, 1724 provided for the protection of the Russian Empire for Armenians who were deemed necessary to settle in the Caspian regions of Gilan, Mazandaran, in Baku, etc.

The study includes the history of colonialism conducted by Armenians in the South Caucasus at the beginning of the 19th century, as well as historical facts about the massacres by Armenian extremists against peaceful Muslims and prominent political figures in the early 20th century.

Thus, were laid the foundations for the Armenian state on the territory of Azerbaijan, the settlement of Armenians on these lands, the genocide and the massacres of Azerbaijanis. The Armenian Apostolic Church was at the forefront of the inspirers and organizers of the separatist movement in Karabakh and the subsequent full-scale military aggression by Armenia against Azerbaijan, which led to the occupation of almost 20% of the country's territory.
