ANAS Division of Earth Sciences held general meeting of the Institute of Oil and Gas on December 26. The event was attended by Vice-President of ANAS, Director of the Institute of Oil and Gas, academician Ibrahim Guliyev, Academician-Secretary of the Division, academician Fakhraddin Gadirov, directors and employees of relevant scientific institutions.

After the opening speech of academician F.Gadirov, the annual report on the activities of the Oil and Gas Institute was presented by the Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs of the Oil and Gas Institute (OGI), Doctor of Geology and mineralogy Vagif Gurbanov.

V.Gurbanov reported that, in the reporting year a study was conducted on three issues covering six topics and nine works in accordance with the scientific and thematic plan.

He said that, the program of new research work was approved at a meeting of the Academic Council, adding that six works are continuing and two have been completed. In the reporting year, a number of works were commissioned by the companies SOCAR, Salyan Oil Ltd and BP Azerbaijan.

Speaking about the scientific relations of the institution, the scientist noted that, agreements of understanding were signed with a number of international scientific institutions - the Center for Evolution and Earth Dynamics of the University of Oslo and the Faculty of Geology of Moscow State University MV Lomonosov, including with the Center for Ocean Studies GEOMAR Helmholtz Germany.

In 2018, by the Institute were conducted the 15 research grants, including one international. In the reporting year, 11 grant projects provided by institute staff received support from local and international funds.

In the reporting year, 95 scientific articles, 4 books, 1 guidelines, 46 articles and 44 reports on the conference were published. Abroad, 27 scientific articles and 12 theses were published, of which nine were published in journals indexed by Clarivate Analytics and SCOPUS.

The scientist also provided information on republican and international events, scientific degrees and academic titles, and field research.

After the report, were held discussions on this issue and a relevant decision was taken.
