A memorial event was held at the National Museum of Azerbaijan History dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Mashadikhanim Nematova, a prominent epigrapher, correspondent member of ANAS.
An exhibition of works by M.Nematova has also been demonstrated within the event.
Opening the meeting, director of the museum, academician Naila Velikhanli said that N. Nematova has lighted the pages of the history of Azerbaijan during his 60-year scientific activity and spoke about her scientific creativity. The scientist explored more than 2500 epigraphic monuments of economic, political, social-cultural, architecture, art criticism, philology, Islamic philosophy and other directions and enriched the historical science base of Azerbaijan, she said.
The director of the museum also said that epigraphic monuments discovered as a result of many years' research by the scientist play an important role in the study of various conceptual problems of Azerbaijani history. N.Nematova's scientific activity was published in more than 12 monographs, 200 scientific papers, including 6 volumes of "Collection of epigraphic monuments of Azerbaijan".
Then deputy director of the museum, Ph.D. in history, associate professor Habiba Aliyeva made a report.
Academician-Secretary of the Department of Social Sciences of ANAS, Academician Nargiz Akhundova, Director of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, Doctor in history Maisa Rahimova, head of the department of the museum, Doctor in history Ali Rajabli, Professor Shahin Farzalibeyov, Director of the Museum of Flag, Doctor of history, Konul Imamverdiyeva and others shared their memories about the scientist and talked about the services of epigraphic science in Azerbaijan.
Then, daughter of M.Nematova, Doctor in history Vafa Guliyeva thanked the organizers and participants of the event.
Finally, a film dedicated to the memory of the scientist was screened.
