Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

International scientific conference dedicated to 90th anniversary of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was held at main building of ANAS on theme " Nakhchivan in international relations and modern development processes “.

Deputies of Milli Majlis, Turkish and Russian historians, scientific community and media representatives attended the event.

Before the meeting, exhibition organized by Central Scientific Library reflecting different historical stages of Nakhchivan was demonstrated at the lobby.

The event was opened by the President of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh and informed about the history, development of culture and art of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Academician stated President's Decree of 14 January 2014 on the anniversary.

Nakhchivan throughout the history, was an Azerbaijan's integral part, endowed great statesman Heydar Aliyev to our nation as well as great architect Ajami Nakhchivani, J.Mammadguluzadeh, Huseyn Javid, M.S.Ordubadi great writers, Nasreddin Tusi, Najmaddin Nakhchivani, Muhammad ibn Hindushah Nakhchivani, Yusif Mammadaliyev, Hasan Abdullayev, M. J.Jafarov, Mohbalı Gasimov, Abbas Zamanov scholars and other important figures born in Nakhchivan, noted scientist.

Vice-president of ANAS, Director of the Institute of Literature, academic Isa Habibbayli made a speech on “Nakhchivan’s autonomy status obtainment as an achievement of Azerbaijan statement”.

Then the head of the Department of History of University of Erzurum, Professor Yavuz Arslan made a report on theme " Kars treaty and issue of the autonomy of Nakhchivan”, Professor Yuri Kuznetsov from Russia on " Nakhchivan in Russian sources and in Moscow agreement”, the chairman of Nakhchivan ANAS, academician Ismail Hajiyev on “Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of in independence period”, secretary of Department of Humanitarian and Social Sciences, corresponding member of ANAS Timur Karimli on " Nakhchivan’s literary atmosphere: history and modernity”.
