Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

A meeting devoted to the discussion of joint projects with “Azerspace” and ANAS was held.

The meeting was attended by the Vice-President of ANAS, academician Ibrahim Guliyev, Deputy Chairman of “Azerspace” OJSC Rovshan Rustamov, Academician-Secretary of ANAS Division of Earth Sciences, academician Fakhraddin Kadirov, Advisor of ANAS on Agricultural Issues, academician Garib Mammadov, corresponding member of ANAS Bilal Bilalov, head of the Center for Strategic Scientific Research of ANAS, Doctor of Political Sciences Fatali Abdullayev, head of the Head Office of Science and Education of the Presidium of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS Aminaga Sadigov and other representatives of both organizations.

Opening the event academician Ibrahim Guliyev said that, over the past two years, 5 Institutes of ANAS have participated in grand projects jointly with “Azerspace” have been taken important steps for implemention of joint research.

Head of the “Azerspace“ OJSC group Agil Ahmmadov delivered a paper on activities of the organization he represents. The team leader spoke about the work done in such areas as the operation of the Azersky satellite, taking pictures using optical and radar satellites and their digital processing, creating a map of vegetation and forecasting yields, obtaining satellite images of the areas where irrigation systems were used, conducting space monitoring at various sites of the republic, compiling an inventory of lakes in the country, etc.

Agil Ahmmadov also listed the areas in which he proposed to cooperate. He said that, these areas cover such sectors as agriculture, ecology, geography, soil science, geology, energy, oil and gas, alternative energy, etc.

At the event, Deputy Chairman of “Azerspace“ OJSC Rovshan Rustamov spoke about the possibilities of cooperation between the Academy and OJSC. Noting the importance of conducting research in the above areas, he stressed that, it is necessary to study the significant experience of the academy in these areas.

Academician Garib Mammadov, corresponding members of ANAS Bilal Bilalov, Aminaga Sadigov, Doctor of Political Sciences Fatali Abdullayev, Director of the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS Namig Jalilov, Director of the Institute of Zoology of ANAS, PhD in Physics and Mathematics of ANAS Elman Yusifov and others spoke.
