II Special Department delivered a report on endogenous and exogenous processes occurring in the territory of Azerbaijan

Today, ANAS II Special Department held a training workshop.

Opening the event in which the Chiefs of Civil Defense (GO) of the scientific institutions and organizations of ANAS took part, the head of the department Eldar Guliyev informed on the issues on the agenda.

He noted that, seminars, trainings and other events dedicated to the Civil Defense are organized in accordance with the Law of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Civil Defense", the Law of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Ensuring Civil Defense" of September 25, 1998 and the recommendations of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

He also noted that the ability to use individual and collective means of protection, the study of basic methods and means of protection from emergencies, adherence to the rules of behavior determined in extreme situations, and the study of rules for the provision of primary health care are the main tasks of citizens.

Head of the Department of ANAS Republican Seismic Survey Center, Ph.D. in Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Etibar Garavaliyev delivered a paper on "Endogenous and exogenous processes occurring recently in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan". According to him, in recent years, some endogenous and exogenous processes in the form of earthquakes, mud volcanoes and landslides occur in Azerbaijan. He noted that, over the past 15 years several seismic situations with a magnitude of more than 4.5 occurred in the Shamakhi-Ismayilli region in seismic zones of Azerbaijan.

The scientist noted that, the last strong earthquake occurred on February 5, 2019 at 23:31 local time, the strength of the earthquake was 5.2, the depth was 10 km, and the intensity at the epicenter was 6 points. According to him, the earthquake also provoked the activation of a number of mud volcanoes in the area.

He said that, in 2018, landslides entered the active phase in some districts of Baku, these incidents were taken under the control of the relevant state bodies, and also were conducted studies.

For the work carried out in the landslide zone, the Republican Seismic Survey Center was awarded the 1st degree during the competition "EcoWorld-2018" in Moscow.

During the seminar, reports of the chiefs of staff were listened on the work carried out here, as well as on March 1 - World Day of Civil Defense.

In conclusion, were considered a number of current issues.
