Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

Director of the Institute of Applied Mathematics, Baku State University (BSU), academician Fikrat Aliyev attended the opening of AMMODIT (Approximation Methods for Molecular Modelling and Diagnosis Tools) conference in the Institute of Mathematics of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences.

The event was attended by well-known scholars and specialists from many European countries (Germany, the Czech Republic, Belarus, etc.).

Academician F.Aliyev made a report at the conference, on the research conducted at the institute. He held discussions with German professor C. Tunich to build cooperation based on the results.

AMMODIT is a grant project funded by the European Council for 2017-2019. The continuation of this project, SOMPATY (Spectral Optimization: From Mathematics to Physics and Advanced Technology), will be funded by the European Council in 2020-2023. Azerbaijan, Germany, the Czech Republic and Ukraine will work jointly with the BSU's Applied Mathematical Research Institute and Mechanics and Mathematics faculty.

The conference discussed the terms of the project and the commitments of the Azerbaijani side.
