ANAS Institute of Linguistics after Nasimi held a scientific session on “Hamid Arasli and the dastan “Kitabi - Dede Gorgud”, dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the outstanding literary critic, honored worker of science, academician Hamid Arasli on April 5.

Director of the institute, academician Mohsun Naghisoylu mentioned the Order of AR President Ilham Aliyev on the celebration of academician Hamid Arasli’s 110th anniversary.

On the occasion of the anniversary in our country are holding a number of events. Speaking about the Hamid Arasli’s unprecedented merits in the development of literature and folklore studies in our country, Mohsun Naghisoylu noted that, he was the first researcher of the “Kitabi Dede Gorgud” in Azerbaijan.

In 1939 he published this epic, having provided a great service to our literature and culture. In 1968 Hamid Arasli was awarded the title of Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan and in 1979-Honored Scientist of Azerbaijan.

It was noted that, the scholar also showed interest in the literary heritage of other eastern nations. The session listened paper by Professor Sevil Mehdiyeva on “Hamid Arasli and the history of the Azerbaijani literary language” and Doctor of Philology Pasha Karimov on “Hamid Arasli as a prominent researcher of our written monuments”.

The speakers described H.Arasli as an outstanding literary critic and a textologist, noting that all his works are a reliable source for young literary critics. Professor Ismail Mammadli, Doctor of Philology Nariman Seydaliyev, Ilkhami Jafarsoy also spoke at the event.

Daughter of a prominent scientist, corresponding member of ANAS Nushaba Arasli expressed gratitude to the head of state for the respect shown to the memory of her father. She mentioned the Order of AR President Ilham Aliyev dated February 11, 2019 on the celebration of the 110th anniversary of H.Arasli.
