Delegation led by President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, academician Alexander Sergeyev visited Azerbaijan Republican Seismic Survey Center (RSSC).
Guests were welcomed by the vice-president of ANAS, academician Rasim Alguliyev, academician-secretary of ANAS Department of Earth Sciences, academician Fakhraddin Gadirov, academician-secretary of Physical-Mathematical and Technical Sciences Department, academician Nazim Mammadov and head of International Relations Department, doctor of philosophy of Biology, associate professor Esmira Alirzayeva.
Director of the RSSC, Corresponding Member of ANAS Gurban Yetirmishli informed that seismic stations network with 35 permanent satellite connections functioned in the territory of the republic. He gave detailed information about the center.
According to the scientist, there are 24 GPS stations, 6 geophysical and 5 geochemical stations in the territory of the RSSC, which allows conducting complex seismological, geophysical, geodynamic and geochemical studies in the center.
Head of the Department of Dynamics of Earthquake Drainage of RSSC, Doctor of Philosophy in Geology and Mineralogy, Associate Professor Sabina Kazimova made a presentation on complex seismological, geophysical, geodynamic, geochemical researches and processing of the results.
Academician Alexander Sergeev praised the work carried out in the center and noted that positive results were achieved during seismological surveys conducted in Azerbaijan. He expressed confidence that further expansion of cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan in this area would be beneficial for both sides.
