“Modern presentation of the great journalism traditions” scientific session held

ANAS Institute of Literature after Nizami Ganjavi hosted the scientific session “Modern presentation of the great journalism traditions” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the “Azerbaijan” newspaper.

ANAS Vice-president, Director of the Institute, academician Isa Habibbayli opened the event, spoke about the glorious way of developing the Azerbaijan newspaper for 100 years.

He noted that, book “A 100-year-old Azerbaijan” reflects the history, successes, problems on the way of the newspaper’s development. He noted that, the newspaper is a reliable and rich source of our press and said that, being an official state body, the publication gathered people around it, as well as intelligentsia of various views.

Academician said that, “Azerbaijan” newspaper is a newspaper which was trusted and read by the national leader Heydar Aliyev. AR President Ilham Aliyev also opened a wide possibility for holding the anniversary of the newspaper.

Academician-secretary of ANAS Division of Humanitarian Sciences, academician Teymur Karimli delivered a paper on “An example of the official state press in Azerbaijan: tradition and modernity”. In the report he gave detailed information about the development of the newspaper, editors and other employees.

Academician Nizami Jafarov, professors - Gazanfar Pashayev, Badirkhan Ahmadov and Doctor of Philology Elchin Mehraliyev told about the role of the newspaper in protecting the norms of the literary language of Azerbaijan.

Then, the deputy of the Milli Majlis, chief editor of the “Azerbaijan” newspaper Bakhtiyar Sadigov thanked the organizers and participants of the event.

In conclusion, a rare copy of the poem "Leyli and Majnun" by Nizami Ganjavi was danated to the newspaper "Azerbaijan".
